The engineering sector is full of interesting career opportunities and starting my working journey here at Martin-Baker back in 2020 has given me a solid foundation to grow as an individual and as an Engineer. Wherever you work, taking pride in the culture you embody and products you manufacture, makes dedicating your time and efforts to the company’s goal so much easier. At Martin-Baker this is heightened by the fact that our final products save people’s lives.
A huge number of components are manufactured inhouse, meaning you have access to a variety of niche processes under one roof and can see how your hard work affects the final customer product. Chalgrove’s focus surrounds the pyrotechnic aspects of the seat which ensures the carefully designed systems function as intended and the seat and pilot leave the plane safely.
The satisfaction felt when you hear about successful ejections, whether that be from qualification testing or customer use, is immense. It is clear through how these events are captured and published, that at Martin-Baker you are part of one big family, which includes the 7700+ ejectees.
Every day offers something new that allows me to make a positive impact in the role. The vast areas of awareness and niche knowledge required to carry out the job means I am always learning and being challenged. In my team, our focus is around production support and on-going continuous improvement. The success of these projects would not be possible without the commitment and support given by the company to take on these important responsibilities.
