Mission Seat

Since the 1940s, Martin-Baker has been the world leader in the design and production of aircraft seating systems that prevent injuries and fatalities caused by accidents. Our seat products are found in all types of commercial and military aircraft. The Mission Seat is designed for fixed wing applications and was originally developed for use in the Nimrod MRA4 aircraft.

The Mission Seat is qualified to FAR 25 requirements modified to reflect increased occupant range criteria common to newer military type requirements. The core purpose of this seat is to offer unparalleled flexibility for designers of aircraft mission stations. This seat offers 360º rotation with locking at intermediate positions, seven inches of vertical height adjustment, 10 – 35 deg. back recline and fore/aft movement. This combination of features makes this seat the perfect “office chair” for mission operators. There is an option to add sideways seat movement in installations where a floor overlay pallet is used for seat integration. This adds another design dimension to make the mission station more effective.

The standard seat has a fixed leather headrest, two leather angle adjustable armrests that can be stowed behind the seat, a black five point harness with rotary quick release buckle and blue or black fabric covers.

The seat integrates to the aircraft floor with standard MS33601 floor track with 14” centres or aircraft specific floor pallets. In applications where compatible floor track is not available, a floor overlay pallet is attached to existing floor hard points. This pallet can also be used to integrate operator consoles. Pallet designs permit use of optional sideways movement for the seat and are ideal when there is a requirement for an insertable module.

This seat is one of a family of seats available for fixed wing applications that includes pilot seats and single or double occupant crew rest seats.
