Working in the defence industry brings with it its own connotations, but we contribute in a positive way and I am so proud to say that I help save lives!
In my job there is always something going on – there is never a quiet or easy day! We constantly find that there is always something that needs fixing or resolving, whether that be machines or processes. It was once said to me that being in PED is like firefighting, there are always problems that need addressing or continuous improvement projects to get involved in.
In recent times, my department and I have been given more opportunity to think outside the box and come up with solutions to problems – we are able to change the processes quite significantly, and being able to modernise the processes to bring us into the 21st century is extremely rewarding.
The family feel that you get at Martin-Baker is amazing – having people that support you and guide you is great. Knowing that the relationships that you build with your wider team help garner ideas and solutions, and having an open feedback loop is really satisfying.
