I have the life of one Dave McIntyre to my name in his jet provost out of RAF Brawdy back in 1982. Both he and his Indian trainee ejected into a lake in mid Wales and both survived. I was also on the front line at Brawdy where there was a spate of sabotaged seats where the red cotton safety cord was cut on our Hunter’s, I had 3 in a row 1 day.
I loved my time on VASF Brawdy and on the line and I was the last Armourer to work on Winston (still flying in Temora Austraila) our Meteor Mk9.
