In 1991, Wally and his WSO jumped into a F-14 Tomcat equipped with a Martin-Baker GRU7 Ejection Seat and launched off the U.S.S Abraham Lincoln. Off the coast of Sri Lanka, the aircraft experienced multiple system failures leading to an uncommanded role. Just a few hundred feet from the waves and travelling at near 400kts, Wally and his WSO ejected.
