Eglin Egress is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of F-35 pilots in the training pipeline.
Our job could not be more important as these pilots are flying a new airframe and do not have the experience of thousands of flying hours.
Each and every day our maintainers inspect, handle, and maintain US16E ejection seats for our pilots, ensuring that if worst comes to worst, the pilots can go home to their families. On May 19, 2020 we saw that come together to save a life and send the pilot home to his family.
We are the only career field that cannot test their system. All we have is the faith in the work we have done.
Since that day, our pilots have flown with the peace of mind that if they need it, we are there.
