Martin-Baker Celebrates 250 Years of the U.S. Navy
Martin-Baker proudly joins the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy. As the world’s leading manufacturer of ejection and crashworthy seats, Martin-Baker is honoured to have played a vital role in protecting U.S. Navy aircrew for over six decades.
In 2025, 7 Navy and Marine Corps aircrew lives have been saved.
Since May 1958, Martin-Baker ejection seats have saved the lives of 2,275 U.S. Navy aircrew, with 789 successful ejections from the iconic F-4 Phantom aircraft alone – the highest number of ejections from a single aircraft type.
Today, the U.S. Navy operates 2,825 Martin-Baker ejection seats across six aircraft platforms: T-6, T-38, T-45, F-5, F/A-18 and the F-35 – forming part of a global fleet of 16,500 seats in active service, supporting 106 operators worldwide. Martin-Baker is proud to contribute to the safety of U.S. Navy aircrew while maintaining a truly global supply chain that reflects our commitment to reliability, innovation and lifesaving performance.
A cornerstone of this partnership is the US14A Navy Aircrew Common Ejection Seat (NACES), developed in 1990 to provide Navy aircrew and maintainers with a consistent and modern experience from training aircraft to frontline fighters. With over 3,000 units delivered, the US14A NACES remains the most widely distributed Martin-Baker seat in history.
Since 2000, Martin-Baker has been dedicated to serving the United States military with indigenous support and manufacture at our facility in Johnstown, PA. Martin-Baker America Inc. is celebrating 25 years of operations in 2025 and plays a vital role in keeping the U.S. Navy’s fleet operational year-round.
“We are proud of our enduring relationship with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps,” said Andrew Martin, Director of Business Development & Marketing at Martin-Baker. “As we celebrate this historic milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation and to saving lives for generations to come.”
Congratulations to the U.S. Navy on 250 years of excellence and Martin-Baker looks forward to continuing this lifesaving partnership into the future.
