I am a maintainer on the Martin-Baker AU10LH Ejection Seats fitted to the RAAF Hawk Mk127 aircraft.
I have worked on them since 2003 initially in uniform and now as a civilian contractor installing and removing them and the command and canopy fragmentation systems from the aircraft.
Part of my role is to train aircraft maintainers on safety around the ejection seats and to identify issues that could compromise daily operations.
I also provide essential training to the base firefighters on safety around the ejection seat should they be required to rescue the aircrew.
I take great pride in my work in the knowledge that one day they may be utilised and save the life of one of our pilots.
Thank you for such an amazing piece of engineering.
